P & W Engineering were engaged as the main contractor to
convert the PPCS Burnside venison slaughter floor to inverted
dressing. This involved initially working with the client to define
the layout and then completing the design, build and installation
of civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering aspects of the
contract.
The civil engineering included demolition, relaying and
profiling of the concrete floors, replacement of drains, new panel
walls, airlock, and ceiling most of which was subcontracted.
The mechanical engineering included building all the conveyors,
4 pneumatic hoists, Hide Puller and all S.S. hygiene equipment such
as apron washes and handwash /sterilizers.
The Electrical content involved specifying and fitting the
electrical equipment required for the PLC control of the operation
of the floor.
The contract was completed to the tight timetable and has
operated successfully.
